The Power of Believing you Can Improve
Hi, Ms. Carmen,
I’ve been looking up videos about how foods get from plant to buying it. Then I realized I should ask if the students will be able to watch youtube videos, or is that limited?
Here are the videos I’ve come across so far, both in English and Spanish
Strawberry fields forever (it shows a strawberry’s journey in reverse, from cake back to market to farm, and then back forward again. I like to use it to introduce a conversation about the people involved in growing our food, since it has several farmworker characters in it.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkNv5Y1_Q4c
Viaje de un tomate (about a farming family in Guatemala that started growing tomatoes, more about their business process and starting a farm, includes images of tomato plants, harvesting tomatoes, packaging them) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOyAH7cDMLg
Viaje de la zanahoria (shows a carrot farm in Guatemala, growing, harvest, processing, packaging) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9XpatmpEp8
Bananas (From plant to ship, from Dole, British accent) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRPVDzgaIbA
Grain chain (talking pretty fast in a light British accent, intended for students, talks about the chain from wheat → flour → bread) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9G7XzgG6So
